Stitch sampler

I came across a piece of work I had done a few years ago the other day when I was half heartedly having a tidy up of the room where I store most of my stitching paraphernalia and thought it is time I did something with it. It was stitched on 28ct antique white evenweave with an assortment of threads but turned out to be rather bright and in my face so decided to soak it in some tea and rather like how it turned out. It is slightly darker than the photo shows, my camera does not believe the saying the camera never lies especially when it comes to colours!  Anyway I now do not know what to do with it,  has anyone got any ideas, I can not get past having it framed but my house already looks more like a gallery than a home and the cost of framing is so extortionate these days,   thinking caps on  please ladies.

This is beautiful Margaret! How big is it? Would it make a file or book cover? Or put it on a cushion as opposed to framing? Judith x

What lovely fine work you do. I agree with Judith above, a book cover or pillow if it's the right size.

Maybe a small table runner or cloth?

Oops, forgot to explain: I would put this under a sheet of glass on the table. That way it can be seen and enjoyed and not damaged in use.

cushion was my first thought but you could go with a bag if you didn't mind it being 'used'. PJ case? middle panel in a quilt? Lamp shade? Have a look at some of th inspiring things dotty angel does with antique linens... http://dottieangel.blogspot.co.uk/

I like the idea of it being under glass on a table. Perhaps you might find a small glass topped round table at an op shop or put a wanted sign in one of the village shops. What about edging it with some lovely tatting or crochet.

You could back it and turn it into a wall hanging. Although I still would suggest framing, but you can do it yourself. Look for old pictures in charity shops, the frames from them come very handy :-)

I like your embroidery very much Margaret, I agree with the others about a book cover or a photograph album cover,it would look lovely.

Your sampler looks wonderful and all that beautiful stitching should be displayed somehow. I had a piece of hardanger that I didn't want to go to the expense of framing but simply hemmed it nicely, bought a nice hanger for it, put it on the wall and am pleased with how it looks.
