CQJP and tast 2013

Today I have done a bit more on the january block.  The tatting is now tacked in place above my initials, think it looks okay here, I did not like it where it was before, only tacked on as waiting for your opinions. Have also put some green ribbon through the red stem stitch seam and added some beads. In the bottom left hand corner have added more stitching and think this area does not need any more work.  A second row of knotted cretan stitch and above the flower centre block I have sat a watering can,   do you think this looks okay, will stitch on if I get the go ahead, thought I could do some running stitches in a silvery thread from the can onto the flower to make it look like water.  The ochre block still empty as not come up with anything for this yet any ideas? and not sure what I can do above the cretan stitch.

Been very busy today,  was watching the semi final tennis between Federer and Murray so managed to do my knotted feather stitch piece too for the tast 2013 challenge.
Have included along with the knotted feather stitch  stem, french knots straight stitch and the pot is long straight stitches that I have then weaved through.

Knotted feather stitch is worked beautifully. I'm not done yet.
I like your cq block and think it would be even better with some water from the watering can.
Keep up the good work.

Lovely work Margaret, the watering can adds more texture to the piece. - Gaia

The ribbon and beads are good additions, the same for the lower left side. They make the block less heavy on the right. Love the watering can. Water isn't absolutely necessary, it is obvious that it was watering the flowers and now it is empty ;)
A little suggestion: how about adding a button, large bead (something heavy) on the longest seam at the intersection with the ochre fabric. It is good for the balance and it is a nice interruption on the long seam.

Your block is coming along very nice. I think Marjolein is right about the button, the seam is ver dominant. Love your knotted feather plant.

How about a tiny little bee in that ochre area? Maybe done in stumpwork?

Your stitching all looks wonderful to me. I have no ideas as I do not CQ. I believe the block will speak to you when the right additions are known. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...

It is coming along brilliantly. Watering can is good and I'm for water. I think the bee idea, or a butterfly, might work on the ochre, even a bee button. Most of all I like the stitching.

Your january block is coming to be great with all these various stitches. Did you do the tatting yourself ? The TAST sampler is nice too. I have brought an end to the TAST, perhaps would I incorporate a 2013' stitch in my current work

Love what you've done, Margaret! Love the tatting and the watering can, and I like Marjolein's idea of breaking up that long line. I think a bumblebee on the ochre block heading towards the flowers is a cute idea, and it's wings might do the trick on breaking up that long line. You could make them out of organza, so the line wouldn't be obscured, just softened a bit. Lovely stitching!

Love the can and the water idea! I also like the suggestions to break up the seams, and think the bee idea is good too, really anything that would do that would be a great addition. :-)
