a bit of laziness

Toady I finally caught up on the tast for 2013 but took the easy way put and did one small piece using 5 stitches,  woven detached chain,   breton stitch,  diamond stitch,  up and down feathered buttonhole and raised cross stitch flower stitch.  Can see some of these appearing in my crazy blocks,  especially the up and down feathered buttonhole stitch.  Only a small sample but at least I have caught up for the time being.  One day I would like to take these stitches further,  the problem is there is so much I would like to do and then I spend too much time fretting about all I want to do and what to do next!! and I hate to admit it but nothing gets done.

I tend to but veg when on offer in the supermarkets as they keep very well in the fridge,  a few weeks ago I got a red cabbage which I put in a cupboard not the fridge and forgot about it. About a week ago ( just checked the date on the photo and it was 2nd april)  came across it at the back of the cupboard and was surprise to see new growth, I removed the cling film wrapper and I am now nurturing it!! not sure how long before the actual cabbage will   "go off"  but until it does it is quite nice to watch the new growth.

2nd april

16th  april.

Wondering what will happen next,  shame isn`t it that things like this amuse me, think I need to `get a life`
Maybe I will keep a carrot, onion and a few other bits and pieces and start a collection of sprouting veg!!

Your new veg hobby makes me laugh! It is fascinating to see what vegs left to themselves get up to!

Well done on the TAST picture, you even got the frame in with stitches from TAST. I'm still working on the two latest stitches...

I like your little catch up embroidery, it would indeed look very nice on a crazy block. Your red cabbage made me smile, last week I put a heart shaped potato above a cup of water and now it's growing nicely.

I love your cabbage! Its like a colorful sculpture! What a fun surprise that must have been for you.
Your stitching is so beautiful. I'm so inspired. As hard as I try, I just can't seem to get the uniformity you get.

Margie, dont worry about wanting to do everything, I am exactly the same, that's why I call myself the butterfly crafter, no sooner have I done one thing than I want to try something else. All I can say is it's better than doing nothing.
As for the veg, if it pleases you and its not harming anyone go ahead. You're not sad, just finding pleasure in simple things, thats good. Pity more people aren't satisfied with simple things.
I love the cabbage, just leave it and post pics as it grows, I for one will look forward to it. Might even try it myself. lol

Love the effect of the up and down feathered buttonhole stitch - will try it out. You've done well. You could also take a design from the cabbage.

Oh, heavens. Sprouting cabbage. it looks a bit alarming. Did it stink up the cupboard?

You have said exactly what I do...think of all the things I should and could and would do but eventually do nothing. Your cabbage is growing nicely. They say the celery root we all cut off will sprout new growth that can then be eaten. Great TAST stitching you did. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...

Your stitches are so charming. And the cabbage, it is really funny. If you wait logn enough there will be perhaps small cabbages.

Your Tast is beautiful and I love how your cabbage is growing. Once I dyed fabric with red cabbage, the fabric became pink and when I add vinegar it's became blue.

You are not alone, Margaret. I , too, spend more time planning and thinking than doing! But, when you do something, it is really lovely:)

When I was just married, I put lettuce in the freezer. It was really looking nice when it came out....until it melted.

The stitching looks great! That is so funny about the cabbage! My mother always had a sweet potato growing on top of the fridge. I've had a few myself. They make pretty foliage.
