tula quilt finish,

I am today uploading the final quilt form the Tula Pink challenge.   This one I did for Catherine my older daughter,  I used 49 of the 100 blocks to make it and she asked for red binding on it.   I machine quilted each block on my very  old new home machine  (35 years)  which I have recently had serviced and found it much easier than the bernina to quilt with.  A cold day but I braved it to put it on the line to photo it  This measures 56" square.

I am sharing photos of the first 2 as well for those who might not have seen them when I blogged them earlier. This is the first one I did using 24 of the blocks all of which had some batik fabric in.

This is the second one I did using 24 blocks again  these 2 smaller ones are on the back of my 2  two seater sofas.   I  have 3 not used   not sure where they have gone somewhere amongst the mountainous stash of  all sorts that I am sure we are all guilty of having
.

. I might make some of these blocks again as I do love them and as these were done soon after I started quilting think I can improve on them,   would like to have one big quilt but that is on the back burner for now.

I also have done the last of the hexie BOM   a wreath which is very appropriate for December.

Here are all 12 spread out on the kitchen floor.   Have now to decide what to do with them,  not sure if I will applique them straight onto one large piece of fabric or make 12 blocks and join them together and if I make the blocks whether to make them with assorted fabrics,   will ponder awhile before I decide although I would like to complete the quilt this year    any suggestions will be welcomed.

I do not seem to have done much this month,  in my previous blog I wrote about the crazy challenge I did with Kathy Shaw,  well it is complete but cannot say I enjoyed doing it,   seem to have a mental block when it came to the silk ribbon work,  nearly backed out from the challenge as could not understand her instructions but utube saved the day and I was able to sort of do the ribbon work.  It is not for me and do not think I will ever do anymore but love the rest of the crazy work, have still to finish my last block for the BOM one and then get it made into a wall hanging for Helen hopefully before Christmas.  Here is the class piece.

Love how the Tula blocks seem to float. You've definitely an eye for modern quilting designs. Wish I had some advice for the hexies, they are so cute I'm sure what ever you decide it'll look great!

I wondered what you had been up to. Now I know. The Tula quilts turned out great! Ditto the crazy block despite your dislike of ribbon work. You are even up to date with the hexies. I have yet to start my December block. Too busy with the Bonnie Hunter mystery.

Those hexie wreaths (if you make more) would look lovely appliqued around a Christmas Tree skirt.
The Tula quilt looks very cheerful.

Everything you've blogged about today is GORGEOUS! I just love all of your projects! I'm so impressed that you've done so much! I found it hard to work with silk ribbon because of the instructions too. I quit before YouTube. Maybe I should give it another try. So inspiring! Love it all!

It doesn't look as if you had any trouble at all with the silk ribbon work. It's lovely. And so good to see more of your quilting work complete, too.

Congratulations on the final finish with your Tula blocks! It's quite a collection. :)

That would be a lot of applique to finish in the next three weeks. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Margaret dear I would say you have completed an amazing amount of stitching this year! Your quilts are lovely and will be comforting and cozy for generations to come. All those little hexies are adorable. I am quite impressed with your Crazy Quilting block. I see sew many beautiful elements on it...especially the tatting pieces. Sharing Joy and Peace...

Your daughter's Quilt looks great - really pops. I like the hexies too. I agree that it the shapes will go well in a number of ways. You have such a good eye for design, I know you'll come up with something interesting. I like your crazy block - it is really fresh. I can't bring myself to even try ribbon work. It seems so fussy to me - and somehow more ephemeral than thread. Prejudice, no doubt!

All the quilts are so pretty, and I also like the hexagon collection. Waiting to see what you are going to do with those.

Those hexies are great. You are very clever.
I had a look at your ribbon work, and you have done a good job with it. You should be proud. The cq is beautiful. Did you do the little tatted pieces.

Your quilts, Margaret, are beautiful. You can be proud of them. The large one will look super on Catherines couch or bed. And I can imagine how your are feeling about the ribbon embroidery. I never did any. But this blog is beautiful, too.

Hi Margaret! I love your hexies. The possibilities are endless as far as where to put them. I like the idea of appliqueing them to a skirt, and it doesn't have to be a tree skirt. ;-) Your daughter will cherish her Tula quilt for many years to come, especially knowing her mother made it for her!
Cheers, Karen

Lovely Tula blocks. I love the wonky layout you used, and the colourful result.

Margaret wonderful tula quilt. Silk ribbons are quite frustrating but I do like some of the results. Your CQ block is brilliant the stitching looks great well done.

the Tula quilt looks great, I love the layout you chose.

for your wreath quilt, I think it would be easier appliqueing onto one background piece, if you applique a hexie on to a piece of background, you'll have to be really precise to get the hexies to line up when the blocks are stitched together.

I fell out of the hexie BOM early this year. Your blocks are just great.

You hexie BOMs are great. I would be inclined to applique them to blocks and then add a sashing of some description and a border. Whatever you do they are so bright and colourful and they'll make a great quilt!

Love the wiggly setting for all your blocks. I'm sure you'll find the missing 3 someday. I'm about 4 months behind on my BOM blocks. I think I'll machine applique mine onto 12 blocks with sashing but I have yet to pick which fabric(s?) to use. I'll get there eventually. Your wreath is fantastic and could be a stand alone piece for the rest of the month :)
