completed quilt, turtle screen cleaners and a flimsy

I have three things to share today but first a link,  I am hoping this will take you to see all the winning quilts at the FOQ show,  I know I shared a few with you all but these are the winners.

http://www.thefestivalofquilts.co.uk/page.cfm/EMSLinkClick=14441_4406_4659_1170538_114952_316   hope this works, no doubt someone will let me know if I have done it wrong.

Now my completed quilt,  it is steps to the altar made from 980 2.5" squares.  plenty of cutting! the blocks are 14" square so measures 70" by 84"

I also have made some screen cleaners,  they are backed with fleece and seem to work,   a bit if fun and only take a few minutes to do I got the instructions for a  blogger who had made some.

At last my little bunny BOM is assembled,  I have added lots of extra blocks so it is now 72" by 60".I dread the thought of trying to layer it up,  my kitchen floor is not big enough   well I do not have a space unless I do it in the sitting room and that is carpet so difficult to tape the backing down,  I have found since I discovered taping the backing it is easier to put the layers together, before that I kept having to redo my pinning as the backing was moving.Working on the floor is so difficult as I have a bit of arthritis on the knee,  also it is hard to get back up!!These quilt blocks were done in 2014 and have been in a box waiting to be made into the flimsy   hurrah   it is done!

I had 3 days at the quilt show in Harrogate,  photos to follow,  it is a much smaller show than the Birmingham one but still managed to spend too much money there,  fabric that I did not need but just felt compelled to buy!  I guess most of you can understand that   a weakness to quilters.

That little bunny is fabulous - good to pull out old blocks and have them finished :) I am always amazed at what you accomplish.

Use T pins to hold the backing on carpet. If you can get down on the floor and back up again!

Okay, I have to ask - what are screen cleaners? For cleaning computer screens or window screens? Also, I don't have enough space to baste a quilt on the floor so I've started using my dining table or one of the larger tables in my sewing room. I take 4 wooden toothpicks and tape them down in the very center of the table to make an X. Then I fold my backing fabric in 4ths so I know where the exact center is and place that down on the table matching it up with the X of the toothpicks. I then use clamps to secure the fabric to the table. I then do the same with the batting, and re-clamping it down. Finally I put the quilt top on, still being able to feel the center toothpicks to make sure all 3 layers are centered, smoothed down and clamped to the table. Then I start pinning away. Once I have the table top completely pinned, I unclamp it, slide it one way or the other, re-clamp and pin again. Of course, you don't want to do this on your high end dining table in case you get some slight scratches from the pins. Both tables I use are well-loved and any additional scratches won't be noticed. Hope that makes sense!

The screen cleaners look such fun. I have to move the furniture to get enough floor space for the big quilts, would love to have great open space with a smooth floor

Hurrah! No flies on you, even your "old" blocks are not that old! Congratulations on another great set of finishes. I'm sure you will have the next one basted and quilted in no time. :D

Your work as always is lovely and thanks for giving us info about other quilters too. Question: what in the world is a turtle screen cleaner for?

It is great what you accomplished - while I was swimming in the Adriatic sea. I love your steps to the altar.

...that was not all: Also the bunny BOM is very good looking.

980 squares! When you just look at the quilt you would not realize there were that many square in it. I think it turned out great and I love you fabrics on the BOM top. I no longer pin baste, like you it is just so hard being on the floor that long. I use a spray basting product now. Cute turtles!

I love the green background fabric. That is one of my current goals to use a different fabric color as the background for each quilt i make. The green is terrific.
