sewing machine cover, mini quilt and some blocks

On monday I make a cover for Pearl my singer featherweight machine,   it came in a case but it smells horrible so have left the machine out of it but found it was getting covered in dust so a dust jacket was needed.   It has worked quite well and keeps pearl dust free.

Tuesday Michele released the latest mini quilt a square vortex measuring 24" square.  100 HSTs and 20 flying geese,   lots of trimming needed. It should have a white background but I like dark ones so used purple,  not sure it works so well with the red but was using scraps.

I follow desertskyquilts blog and Susan has been sharing blocks with us stars and pinwheels,  I finally got to make some of them  so here is a photo,   the one at the bottom on the left hand side is not in the series but she had made one and I thought I would have a go too.Not sure what I will do with these maybe just keep them for reference and then if I want to make a sampler quilt I can use them.

I have also signed up to do Blossomhearts HST quilt which is 24 blocks over 12 months,   the link is on my blog.  Have not started yet as not decided on fabric but think I will use lots of fabrics and tie them together with the sashing.

You have joined lots of activities, that will keep you busy this year! I like the little quilt topp you made, and am a little bit envious that you have a featherweight. They are really hard to get here.

Margaret, I am so glad that I found you now on my list. The cover is perfect - you were fast to make it.(I use a piece of old linen to cover mine when I leave my 60 years old "baby". I just love your red and purple in your miniquilt. It looks very special. I admire your many projects.

Great idea to make a sewing machine cover. One of my Featherweights did not come with a carrying case. I use a smallish rolling tote to take it to classes and I made a dust cover for it. Made a second one for my machine that sits in a cabinet but I don't always remember to use it.

Wonderful projects you have going on there. Busy year for you.

I think the red gives some nice "pop" to your purple mini quilt! Always great to use scraps, and it looks like you will have plenty to keep you busy this year!

The fabric for Pearl's cover is perfect and the little handle is very " handy". You have a very good sense of color, cease the red and purple are great together. I think white would dull. Some good projects this week, and I got the email notification! Have a good weekend.

I like the red and purple too. It works in the pinwheel as well as the mini quilt. There is s much to learn from your blocks - well worth using them for reference. You are so productive!

Ahhh……you’ve really inspired me. My new machine is larger than the previous inexpensive vinyl cover I’d previously utilized. Protecting these costly machines is so sensible……tx’s for posting this idea!
