Ione star 1, baby play mat, more bags

I have now completed my first lone star quilt,  this one went wrong but have decided to finish it anyway,  it will keep the second one company!

I have also made a play mat to go with a baby quilt I made for one of Helen`s nursing friends. This is the first time I have backed with a fleece,  I also used wadding to make sure it was nice and thick for the baby to lie on.Sophie was born last week so they will soon be receiving both this mat and the quilt.

Here are 3 more bags I have made using samples from when I did my C & G embroidery   sorry seem to have misplaced the third photo.  Not sure where I go wrong but save everything to the computer, memory card and also a external hard drive but often when I do that I seem to lose them all.

The holly bush has come in handy to photo them on.

I have made 3  heart blocks for the quilt appeal following the tragedy in Orlando and closer to home the Leeds MQG that I have joined are making quilts for the children of Jo Cox who was the MP so brutally murdered in Birstall which is very near where I live.  We hope to get enough blocks to maybe do a quilt for her sister and Mum too.  So many terrible things happening in this world these days   why oh why cannot people live in peace and harmony with one another?  Will share these on my next blog as still to make the ones for the children

Lovely quilt and play mat, Margaret. I love the bags you've made too! Some terrible tragedies and how wonderful that people such as yourself are making blocks for quilts to comfort those who are left grieving.

For the life of me I cannot see that your Lone Star "went wrong". Looks amazing to me.

I with you about all these terrible things that keep happening. Why can't people just be nice?

I wouldn't have said that this star went wrong. It's so beautiful and bright. I love the red edges on the star, they made the whole thing shine.

I've never used fleece or minky fabric for a quilted project. How did you like working with it? Did you prewash it first?

Love the lone star pattern, especially with the white background.

I love your use of textiles to give comfort as well as warmth. Two kinds of warmth, really.

Your Lone Star looks perfect to me and the quilting is nicely done. A lovely overall finish. Is the bright colorful side of the mat the fleece? It's nice to have two different looks for it. Congrats on getting it done for a special baby. I was shocked to hear about Jo Cox. It's great that the family will have some comfort from your group's quilts. God bless you.

Well I adore your lone star, Id live with happily!
Good use of the C&G pieces too : )
So appallingly sad about Jo, such a little firebrand, just what Parliament needs too, someone with guts and common sense.
Such a wonderful idea to send quilts for the family, a token but heartfelt - look forward to seeing what you do.

Just thought, it is time to have a look if Margaret was posting something. It is quite some time that I didn't see anything. And then there is quite a lot. I like the star how it is - I can't see any mistake - even if the maker does. (You should have a look at my sweater, oh my) The baby quilt is certainly lovely and soft with flelece and batting. Lucky baby.
And more useful bags! It breaks my heart to think of all those awful happenings - especially about Jo.
It is a tragedy.

Your lone star looks good to me! The baby quilt is cute and should be very comfy, too. Love the bags-- always a need for more bags, I think. I agree with you about the too many tragedies
today.

Like others, I can't spot a flaw in the lovely Lone Star. The bags DO look great on the bush - must be the bag bush! So sorry for your whole community's loss in Jo Cox. It diminishes us all.

I don't see anything wrong with that Lone Star -- pretty colours and fabrics, nice and flat, great finish!

The new baby and mother will love their playmat and quilt beautiful bags. As you say why can we not live in harmony with each other wonderful idea for a quilt for Jo's children as her husband said yesterday it has brought out such an outpouring of love not hate.

That is the question of the ages, isn't it? Your bags are fabulous! I don't see a thing wrong with your lone star, either. It's terrific! The play mat is great, too. I haven't ever backed with fleece or minkee. I know a lot of people who do, but I just haven't gotten there myself. I look forward to seeing your second lone star. I can't imagine it being better than this one, though!
