6 completed mini quilts

I have had 6 sweet mini quilts that I did as a BOM with Jacquelynne Steeves waiting to be quilted for  a while,  now completed   3 by hand and 3 by machine.  This BOM was done with applique blocks but I have done embroidered ones   well outlined the designs not filled them in in a red work style but used colours to compliment the fabric used.,  I have also changed some as the designs given  did not appeal to me.   I will one day learn to do needle turned applique    one day.   Not sure what I can do with these   they are a great size for learning to quilt but do not see much use for them,  they are about 24" square.   I am thinking I will do more hand quilting as I can see an improvement and do enjoy doing it,  have bought an Aunt Becky`s finger protector annd I am sure,  that is when I get the hang of it it will be a God send as I will have protection for the fingers on my left hand that get pricked too often.

I have also done the latest block in th BlossomHearts BOM  this is block 19 perspective   there are 5 more to do.

I have been busy     mad block 5in the Maggies fist dance BOM this block is made 5 times and I have made all 5  now  sorry can not find the photo of the block  I have to put all 9 together. It is meant to have 2 borders   struggling on those  I will use the lemon for one but really need to use the floral fabric from the centre of the 5 blocks but it is a tilda fabric and though ||I bought a fat quarter for the centres cannot justify the cost for a wide border,   thinking maybe I will use the red.

One more block has been completed for the secret garden BOM  block 10.  2 more blocks to make and they are a repeat of 1 & 2 but might make different ones

Just a quick update on Helen and to thank those of you who are holding her in your prayers.  She saw the spcialist on friday and has now been referred to the surgeon as she needs an op to remove part of her bowel.  It is good that she is now allowed to eat a few things,   yogurt, custard, soup without bits in it and scrambled egg,   they have also changed the supplement shakes to ones with even more calories in as she is still very weak and wants to go back to work till she has the surgery. We so appreciate your prayers and I am sure they have helped greatly  please continue to remember her,   thankyou

I'm glad to see you have definitely got your sewing mojo back! Your mini quilts are gorgeous. I'm about to embark on my first hand quilting project, so interested to know what an aunt Becky protector looks like as I've bought myself a thimble in preparation but don't like it at all!!! So glad to hear your daughter is making progress, all be it slow. Sending good wishes to you via blog land.

I will continue to keep Helen in my intentions.

Meanwhile those beautiful quilted pieces would make wonderful cushions or tote bags.

Maybe they could be floor coverings for dolls houses ? Church kneelers ? They are simply wonderful whatever you do with them.

First of all, I am so happy Helen is getting the medical attention she needs, and now can enjoy her 'meals
a bit more. I'll keep praying for her, and for her Mum!
Margaret, I think you have grown so much as a quilter. These blocks are all beautifully made and I am impressed by your productivity.
I think a red border for Maggie's first BOM would look stunning.
Keep up the good work.

Some fabulous effects here, Margaret. I especially like the embroidered ones. They really pop. So pleased things are improving for Helen (and for you). Every step must make it a little easier and give you both more to build on.

Margaret, you are a one woman block factory! Think the red border would be perfect too.

Hope the good news continues for Helen.

Prayers continue for Helen and Healing Energy for her strength to improve so she can have successful surgery. Your blocks are all unique and lovely. I imagine sewing is good for your mind and hands to be busy. Keep stitching dear...

Wow, you sure have been busy. You could make your 24" blocks into pillows. That is a nice big size for a couch, etc. I will have to check out the Aunt Becky finger protector. Right now, since I am hand quilting, I have to alternate one day hand work, one day quilting because my fingers get too sore from the quilting.

Those six minis are so lovely and so different. Your embroidery really shows well on those smaller projects. They are perfect for doll quilts. I think the red would be a good choice for finishing your quilt. Thank God for His healing hand on Helen. You will continue to have our prayers. Great work you've been doing.

Gorgeous minis. They would make great wall art, grouped all together. Hope Helen's surgery is successful and she heals quickly.

Continuing to think of Helen. I love your mini quilts, all of them, but my favorite is the chickens. =) Red is the perfect border for your other quilt. I hope you did use that. I was slow getting over here this time. You accomplished a lot!

I was sorry to hear that Helen is ill, I didn't know, I wish her all the best with the operation, my brother had this operation and is fine now. It is a shame that you can't put to use the mini quilts, they are all lovely!

I am glad you are getting so much sewing done, too! I think the mini with the birds is my favourite.

I'm sure that surgery is a worry, but I think it is good news that they feel she is strong enough to do it. Do encourage her to keep things in balance and take it easy at work. She has to take care of herself if she's going to be any use helping others! Best wishes to you both. :D

Somehow I missed seeing this post until now. The jelly roll quilts will make some babies as happy as your kitty is with his. Good luck for you and your daughter as she faces surgery.
