Such a tragedy 22 lives being lost and a lot more both children and adults badly injured.
The Manchester Sewing Bee decided to make quilts for the families of those who lost their lives and people were asked to make 5" hexagons and attach them to 6.5" squares. I made 16 and masses of people contributed and then on 15 th July Rachel came with another lady and brought quilt tops, blocks etc to be completed at out Leeds MQG meeting. The first quilt was finished by Liz who sandwiched the flimsy that had been made by a group in Chorlton, quilted it added the binding then passed it over to 2 of us who sat either side of a table and hand stitched the binding down.
Good to see the first completed quilt. There were individual squares, hexagons needing to be added to squares, rows joined together and flimsies to be completed. Rachel had been given lots of backing fabrics, wadding etc and people had sent in bindings. Some of us took the flimsies home to complete and I did one just a wavy line through the seams as my quilting is not too good then bound it and had it completed in a day. There is an instagram page for Manchester quilting bee if you want to see more of what is happening, think a facebook one too but I am not on facebook

A friend of Helen`s lost her 15 year old daughter last august so tragic she had a epileptic fit. The Mum is having a fund raiser on her anniversary for the epilepsy charity, and Helen volunteered Catherine my other daughter and me to make some things for it!! Catherine does glass painting and makes beautiful cards no stitching but other techniques. I am also pleased to support this charity as my ex husband suffered from uncontrolled epilepsy from the age of 29 till his death aged 76 and I would never know when he was going to have a fit, he often had them whilst waiting to board a plane after a holiday, we were sure air conditioning effected him so any money raised will go to researching this illness

I have made 8 bags with embroidered cats on them

Hope too make a few more things before august to add to these, maybe some embroidered cards and have done a scrap HST quilt from 5.5" squares which they might like too. Only completed this yesterday so should really not be in the june makes blog.I had a disaster with a glass of sherry which I managed to spill on it when it was waiting to have the binding hand stitched, should not have had it on the kitchen table, fortunately it washed out okay. This one I machine quilted with a walking foot and wonky lines

I have also made 15 blocks for the Manchester quilting bee that are making quilts following the bombing at the concert last month, the bee are coming up to our Leeds MQG on 17th and we are all going to help making the blocks into quilts. The hexies have been attaches to 6.5" squares.
I also made 10 assorted blocks the winter slostice BOM was completed and I decided the blocks that were bigger than 12" I would not use in the quilt so made the substitute blocks instead. Sorry can`t find the photo for these.
Last but not least a stitching apron for me to wear when stitching. It has pockets on the front, I made the same as the charity ones but this was the first I made might take the waistband and straps off and make them narrower as I have done in the other 2. It is reversible but no pocket on the other side.
In may I celebrated my 70th birthday so here is a photo of the cake Helen had made for me, not only did it look wonderful but the sponge was coffee flavour my favourite. One of her friends made it and she is not a professional just does it as a hobby.
stack and whack bag enjoy this technique though could have got the blocks put together in a better design will use this for the quilt show. I am enjoying smaller projects at the moment and as I have run out of wadding cannot do any more quilts though I have 3 or 4 waiting to be sandwiched up form ages ago. Will hope to get another roll in a couple of months but had to buy a new washing machine a couple of weeks ago, the previous on lasted thirteen and a half years fingers crossed the new one will too even if I don`t.

Helen has chosen the pink cat one I am not getting the lining right it seems too big for the bag though have done it as the instructions said. Helen plans to use it for hairbrush, straighteners etc as she does not sew or do any crafts

The next one is or Catherine who does glass painting and various other paper type crafts she makes the most beautiful cards has great imagination and also does encaustic art. Have not given this to her yet but she does not read my blog so can share the photo. The lining is still too big!

This one I have done for myself, love the fabric used and went back to Hobbycraft and managed to fins some more reduced to £6.50 so bought some for my stash. I made this lining a bit smaller yes you are right it is now too small but there is seam allowance I can let out but will live with it as it is for now.

Will make one for Sal if she wants one once she has seen her Mum`s she will probably want a black one how boring that will be, plan to make her a black and white quilt with touches of red for her 21st in 2019 as she also likes red.

I have now sourced and received a roll of car headliner which is more or less the same as bosal but is not iron on. A great deal cheaper too though had to purchase 5 metres which is 60" wide will have to make plenty to use all that up! The roll cost £24.99

The winter solstice BOM is coming along well 18 blocks done now. Not sure how this is going to work out as the blocks vary in size, bit of a mishmash as once again using odd bits instead of breaking into my fabric stash. Did use the turquoise from the stash for the big block I really must start using up some of the metre and half metre fabrics I have I dare not tell you how much I have got!

At the LMQG on 15th Alex shared a lesson on FPPing, I did manage to make one economy block and will try and do some more but it really does confuse me. Have taken a photo but can`t find it.

Looking through things made in the past I came across a pouch which it is exactly right for my tablet, think it was made around 2000 when the Maderia show was still going and the embroidery group I was in were asked to exhibit at the show, it was a great time we had, 5 of us in the group produced a large variety of makes.
Not sure when this will get quilted have the wadding and backing but not made the sandwich yet, it is sitting with the others waiting to be done.I will bind it with the lilac that has been used in all the blocks and the corner stones
I have also made a small medallion quilt with the help of Jennie Rayment and create and craft tv channel. This was done over 2 programmes but I have not used all the instructions, the medallion in the middle is Jennie`s design but have added plain borders, another round of Jennie`s and a round of my own. It measures 50" square. I plan to bind it with the spot fabric used in one of the borders. A few photos went from me to Jennie for help and advice which was a good help.
Sofie was Catherine`s cat and Mum of Alfie who we lost on 26 november last year. Sofie was about 19 and Sal my granddaughter has not known life without her, she is so upset and sat up all night on 25th with Sofie so she was not alone. What a lovely cat she was and she brought so much joy into our lives, she is now with Alfie in cat heaven. Helen and I plan to have a needle felted cat made from her photos, Helen had one of Alfie done too.

This is Alfie the needle felting looks much better than this in real life, for some reason the photo shows in very much a funny shape, note the winking eye, he used to wink at the camera a lot! The lady who made him is so busy now since Helen shared the photo on facebook and does all sorts of pets for people.

I have been quite busy this month, finally got my 24 HST blocks which I did with Blossomhearts blog in 2016 put together into a flimsy. I enjoyed this challenge as we used the 2, 4 and 8 way methods of making HSTs. I did not like the 4 method but loved the 8 one and now if I have 6 or more HSTs in a block I use this way and just add the extras to my stash! Not quilted yet as I do not have anything suitable for a backing, it measures 86" x 56" so will hopefully be able to pick up a king size duvet cover on my travels for it and the other half will be used for another quilt. Pondering about what I will use for binding, yellow and orange have been suggested but will wait till quilted before I make my mind up

I also used a hexie piece to make into a pouch for my pintangle tast stitches must get some more done. I do these with Sharon from pintangle who is about to bring out a crazy quilting book, I have it on pre order from amazon.

At last I made the effort and got my Women of the Bible instructions out, decided I did not want to do the blocks all 10" or 15" in size and altered them to 9" 12" and 15". I found the instructions very difficult and as most went together better as these sizes was able to work them out though some I could not work out so they were left out. Some have been duplicated in the different sizes and I now have 25 12" blocks which I am pleased with and want a square quilt. I plan to add sashing and corner stones but have no idea what colour to do but as lilac is used in all the blocks to link them together I think maybe I will use purple and do the corner stones in the lilac. It has not show up well looks more like pale blue n the photos.

There are 12 9" blocks not sure what these will be maybe just go in the blocks box.

I have also made 3 more winter solstice blocks and have one more downloaded, one Childrens library block, 1 crazy red block, 3 bee blessed blocks 2 I will send to bee blessed and keep one for myself and 2 red work blocks.
Now I am taking time to sort out my narrow scraps as I want to do some string blocks, only got the purple, black and grey done yesterday so think it will take a few days to get them sorted.,
So far this year has been pretty productive hopefully it will continue.

Maggies dance was a BOM with Jaquelynne Steves I enjoyed this as it has a bit of embroidery on. Sorry not a good photo and that is with my new camera . I drapped it over the couch as it is too wet and cold to photo outside and it is so overcast and dull hope we will get some sunshine soon.. This one I hand quilted

The next one started out as a BOM with Little Bunny quilts in 2014 but I added more blocks and got a bit carried away. Now when I look at it I think it would have been much better with sashing and maybe 2 quilts instead of 1. Catherine I am sure will want this one as like me green is her favourite colour. I am hoping the quilting shows up better when I publish this blog

The final one I completed today is my disappearing nine patch with pinwheels the blocks were made in 2015 I have not quilted the pinwheel blocks and have randomly quilted the other squares free machine then used the walking foot with a wavy stitch to do the smaller squares and rectangles, I felt I was finally getting somewhere with my quilting with this one, the stitches are more or less the same size!

Not bad 9 completed this year I have 4 more waiting to be done 2 in the aiming for accuracy BOMs one from 2014 and the other 2015 , my hexie BOM from 2015 and my secret garden BOM with Pat Sloan done last year. I have today removed the border I had put on it and liking it much more now but need a backing for it. The other 3 have their wadding and backings sorted but plan to put them on the back burner for now.

Feel a bit flat now after all this quilting going to have a look at other projects I have on the to do list and also have about 50 blocks made plus 140 economy blocks but not a clue about how to arrange them so maybe time for a new project.

All the quilts were done on my bernina 1230 how I wish I had a machine with a bigger throat/neck or whatever it is called. I had my glaucoma check up today and the specialist always asks me about my stitching she has asister in law that is a quilter she said I should treat myself trouble is the savings I have will jst about cover my funeral so need to save some more before I can think about a machine

The second one I made is done correctly a photo on my previous blog but will attach it here too so you can see the difference. Quilting is random and had to be close as I used a wadding that had to be quilted no wider than 4" apart, the wadding I usually use is 10!" suits me much better.
This year I have also decided to do the rainbow challenge, this month the colour is purple, I also am doing the crazy block a month so decided I would link them together, the block is made but not done any cazy work on it yet.
I have been trying to organise my lap top pictures, gathering into one file all the projects I completed last year, not sure if I have them all but here is a collage of what I did find. There are only a few large quilts and unfortunately the biggest one has come out as one of the smallest on the collage!

He might be going home later this week. He has a small amount of brain damage which hopefully will improve and cannot remember anything in the 2 weeks prior to the heart attack which is 9 weeks tomorrow. Is now eating proper food and able to walk slowly with 2 sticks so really does not need to be in hospital anymore as he has a wife to care for him at home, the recovery when it came came so quickly and he is far better than the Doctors said he would be they talked of him having to go into a home permanently how wrong they were fortunately.

Sucess I have completed three quilts in the last few days, one I made from scratch which I thought might be a comfort for Richard when he leaves hosiptal but having shown him a photo he said "what would I do with that well maybe Gill would like it" so I said it was okay he did not need to have it, I am certainly not giving it to his wife so it will stay with me for now. I used up some largish scraps and made the churn dash blocks 15" so only needed 16 instead of 25 12" ones then made the border using left over scraps and used blue as the main colour to tie it all together seeing as it was being made for a boy, not a blue person really but as it was meant to be for a man. Not a very good picture but the best I could get.

Loving the backing it is a duvet cover from Asda 100% cotton in the sale for £8, the back is a grey version that will be used as a backing for another quilt. Went back to get some more but they had all gone, cannot complain as I also got 2 super king sized ones again 100% cotton in a pink paisley for £5 each and a couple of others but they were poly cotton.

This next quilt I think is my favourite of all those I have made so far probably it is because of the colors used. It is called Berry Cross and I am thrilled with it.

Part of the blocks I quilted with a walking foot and used a hera marker then I did squiggly things in the yellow squares free style. Very free style no 2 blocks are the same.

My final completed quilt is the Urban neighbourhood one, have done 2 of these this is the second one the other still on the to do pile. Helen called when I was handsewing the binding yesterday and said she liked it so it now has a home to go to, she does not often say anything about what I am doing as she has no interest really so was delighted that she liked it. Placement was not to good here just randomly pulled the cut pieces out of a bag the pink that looks white on the photo though is not so stand out as it looks here fortunately. Again it has been free motion quilted in the most random way, I did get better at it but at the start the stitches are too long, considering redoing some of it but think it can stay the way it is. I used a jelly roll for this and added the black.

I now have 4 more sandwiched waiting to be quilted and three with wadding and backings cut but they can wait aas they are very big and one that I think I am going to remove the border from as I do not like it. Plan to quilt the 4 before I start anything else!! hopefully.

A couple of photos of Charlie and Teddy Helen`s new cats, made a mistake last blog and both photos were of Teddy but don`t tell Charlie!
They seem to like the quilt I made for Helen a couple of years ago hiding under it and just having a peep out.

Now for the wonderful news, Richard is now out of intensive care following his heart attack. It will be 7 weeks tomorrow since he had the heart attack and fractured his skull. We have had some very bad moments and there were times when the Doctors warned us he would not make it but now he is recovering, has been off the ventilator for over 10 days and breathing on his own. Has fought off 2 chest infections, pneumonia, sepsis and a blood clot in one of his lungs so all in all one tough guy. Now he needs to start building himself up, is on mashed food but hopes to have proper food soon, still unable to walk as he has lost so much weight only been eating just over a week and is extremely weak, . The brain is much better than expected and knows us but memory not back to normal, asked me when Mum was coming to visit, she passed away 10 years ago but when reminded he remembered.Cannot remember anything that happened in the 2 weeks prior to the attack but we are very hopeful. Praise be I am sure the prayers so many of you supported us with have helped and saved his life. Thankyou so much. His youngest son has to return to the Dominican Republic where he is a teacher next monday he will go back knowing that his Dad will be well cared for and improving daily.

Now for some quilting I have got the berry cross quilt to the flimsy stage and very pleased with it.

I also made a chair runner a couple of days ago, I was given a large office chair on wheels it is ideal for using at the sewing machine cabinet but oh so cold to sit on as it is leather so made the runner, quite pleased as I picked the blocks and worked out sizing etc and even finished it, so nice to sit on! A couple of years ago would never have dreamt I could have made something without full instructions so feel I have progressed with my quilting.
This all happened a week ago and still not awake or breathing for himself, I saw him yesterday, his eyes were open but not focusing we are praying fo his return to us fear it will be a slow process but whist there life there is still hope, his heart stopped for 13 minutes so we are very concerned and feelng so helpless, he has his wife and 3 sons with him, the youngest lives in the Dominican Republic, he arrived back on monday. I will go on sunday but when we are there only 2 allowed at his bed side and more often than not they send us out whilst they are doing things to him

This is a quilt I started a while ago and today have got it to flimsy stage so another one to go on the quilting pile.

I do not understand why this fabric will not photo this is the best I can do and these are the various fabrics I used along with the green for background.
Jacquelynne Steves BOM Maggie`s first dance is now a flimsy, so enjoyed making this but have done a different setting for the borders. When quilted it will have red binding. The colours not showing too well the light one is lemon but could not photo outside due to it snowng far too early for snow. Would have quite liked to use the purple for the binding but did not have enough left. Unfortunately you cannot see the embroidery very well that is in 4 of the blocks probably why I enjoyed this so much as it uses my love of embroidery with the quilting.

The second flimsy completed yesterday was Pat Sloan`s Secret garden quilt, this is so big and the only place I could photo it was on the bed and you still cannot see it all. The blocks are 16", trouble finding a border fabric not sure this one works but it is done now and the colours in it are in the blocks too, binding will be done with the dark green that I used for the cornerstones and there is 6" green block on each corner of the 6" border fabric.
Not sure why I did this one first as Ebony is not due for 5 weeks but she made here entrance on 26th weighing 5lbs, a very special IVF baby. Must now get the next one done as he/she is due around 4th november. The backing is a soft needlecord perfect for a baby. I hand quilted assorted sized circles on this as requested. Now I have not a clue how to quilt the next but want to machine quilt it. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I have bought a trolley which means I can take my featherwieght to group meetings so much easier., Olsens are closing down in Leeds and they had a 40% off everything sale, by the time I got there they only had one left and it was missing a wheel., I rang customer services and they said they would send a whole set of wheels so bought the trolley and the wheels have now arrived. A handy trolley as the top section lifts off and my machine fits in this then will put everything else I need in the bottom section, will be heavy to lift on and off the bus but I m sure will work well. A very good purchase for £15.
The butterfly quilt I made for Helen is on the back of the couch, I did point out to her it as upside down!

I think this shows his contentment
Now it is bedtime so rather than disturb him Helen has made an envelope of the quilt and she carried him up to bed, he just loves this pampering and when I called the next day he was still on his quilt

I have been making 5 baby quilts from strips I cut from child friendly fabrcis, I got in a bit of a muddle as I took my featherweight to the Leeds quilting group and I sewed the strips together there they got rather tangled but all was well in the end. I use the jelly roll technique joining the narrow ends together of all the strips and then doubling over 4 times, this gave me 4 quilts but they were a bit wide so was able to make a 5th by cutting off 2 fabrics from each quilt. They are now all prepared for quilting and have started on the first one, it is for a friend of Helen`s and she asked for assorted sized circles scattered about and these I am hand quilting, fingers crossed the pencils circles will wash out okay on completion.
This BOM was done with applique blocks but I have done embroidered ones well outlined the designs not filled them in in a red work style but used colours to compliment the fabric used., I have also changed some as the designs given did not appeal to me. I will one day learn to do needle turned applique one day. Not sure what I can do with these they are a great size for learning to quilt but do not see much use for them, they are about 24" square. I am thinking I will do more hand quilting as I can see an improvement and do enjoy doing it, have bought an Aunt Becky`s finger protector annd I am sure, that is when I get the hang of it it will be a God send as I will have protection for the fingers on my left hand that get pricked too often.
Just a quick update on Helen and to thank those of you who are holding her in your prayers. She saw the spcialist on friday and has now been referred to the surgeon as she needs an op to remove part of her bowel. It is good that she is now allowed to eat a few things, yogurt, custard, soup without bits in it and scrambled egg, they have also changed the supplement shakes to ones with even more calories in as she is still very weak and wants to go back to work till she has the surgery. We so appreciate your prayers and I am sure they have helped greatly please continue to remember her, thankyou

My how time flies.

I have been absent from following blogs, doing my blog and stitching for about 7 weeks but finally the mojo has awoken and I am making an effort both to read blogs and to do this one, though I do not think I can read all the posts I have missed .

Life has been tough but now feeling better.

I did have a lovely week with my sister and BIL who came from Australia but the time flew too quickly, so good to see them . Alison had not been back since 1991 but I was out there for Christmas in 2001. We met up in York with my 3 brothers the first time we have all been together since 1984 when my Dad passed away. The sad thing is we will probably never see Ali again as we are all getting rather old, and the flight is very expensive and takes a long time.

My younger daughter Helen is very poorly at the moment due to a flare up of chrons, she is on a liquid only diet for at least 6 weeks, had a MRI scan yesterday and the Dr will decide when he gets the report whether she needs more surgery, I pray she does not but he thinks it is unlikely she will get well without it. Today I have spent 4.5 hours going to Waitrose and back for comsumme soup that they say she can have, apart from that she just has 8 bottles of a special liquid substitute and 4 cups of decaffinated tea or coffee without milk and as much water as she can drink unfortunately she does not like water! Got enough soup for a week but will get 2 weeks supply next time if I can manage it.

Sal my grandaughter started uni this week, we are all so proud of her she is doing business studies with fashion a 4 year course and I hope to see more of her as she is coming to Leeds uni and sometimes will not travel home to Halifax but stay her for the night if he has a late lecture or a social night out, she did not want to go into halls but wanted to stay at home,

I do not usually share personal things but I am asking for prayers for Helen from practising Christians etc please.

Now for some stitching, I have done some BOM blocks, Blossom Hearts, Maggies first dance. and the Secret Garden,

these are from the Blossom Hearts 15 Windmill

seem to have lost the photo of all 18 blocks but will share it when I find it! As you can see I am using scraps for these. It is a lovely BOM we get 2 a month and they are all using triangles, using the 2, 4, and 8 method of making them, I only used the 4 at once method as it gives 2 bias edges but love doing 8 all together

These are the Maggies first dance BOM Jacquelynne Steves is the designer, Jacquelynne gives a choice of applique, embroidery or using a patterened fabric, as I have still to learn applique I chose to do the embroidery.
I have also made a play mat to go with a baby quilt I made for one of Helen`s nursing friends. This is the first time I have backed with a fleece, I also used wadding to make sure it was nice and thick for the baby to lie on.Sophie was born last week so they will soon be receiving both this mat and the quilt.
I have made 3 heart blocks for the quilt appeal following the tragedy in Orlando and closer to home the Leeds MQG that I have joined are making quilts for the children of Jo Cox who was the MP so brutally murdered in Birstall which is very near where I live. We hope to get enough blocks to maybe do a quilt for her sister and Mum too. So many terrible things happening in this world these days why oh why cannot people live in peace and harmony with one another? Will share these on my next blog as still to make the ones for the children

Little bags are being made. This one is Driven dotty by Jennie Rayment it is from one of her books Tucked up in bed and there is also a tutorial on http://www.justhands-on.tv/website that I subscribe to, some of the videos etc are free not sure if this one is though. The twiddly fiddly bit is made from a 23" square of calico/muslin depending on where you live, I decided to add a border and make a little bag once the twiddly bit had been done. I am one big fan of Jennies have had a go at lots of her twiddly bits but this is the first one I have made into anything, watch this space will be making others too as I have all her books so no excuses.
I received these 2 lovely pin cushions from Bea last week I am spoilt as the swap usually involves one not two. One with a lovely FPP cat cats are my favourite animals and another with a Bible quotation on, Bea knows my faith means a great deal to me and I will be taking it with me to my Bible reflections group today.
Thankyou Bea I am thrilled with both of these.
This is the first time I have set blocks on point a bit of a struggle but think I did okay, it measures 64" square and sits on the bed nicely comes up to the pillows so do not need to turn it down when in bed I will be using it as a lap quilt when it is cold
This is the 5th mini in the BOM called chirp as there should be little birds appliqued in the calico squares which Jacquelynne is running at the moment. There are 6 in total and have one left to do next month, All the quilts in this series are appliqued but that is a bit beyond me at the moment so I will be adding embroidery to them all when the 6th is made. It will be 26" square when completed
This is the disappearing none patch that I kept cutting and adding more to now quilted and finished, I have a stool that Granny made, she passed away in 1956 which has a tapestry top now pretty bald in places, this fits nicely on top but not attaching it as do not want to remove Granny`s stitchery

These are the first 10 blocks in the Blossom Hearts BOM they are all using half square triangles which are made using various ways, I am liking when you make 8 out of 2 large squares this is so much quicker when you need 8 all the same
Catherine gave me back a large piece of stitchery a few weeks ago, it was a piece I did for my city and guilds part 2 had forgotten I had a sort of patchwork piece as I was doing the embroidery course, It was made as a large fire screen to hid a hideous gas fire in a previous home, now out of the frame as the frame was battered about, have it as a fire screen once again until I decide what to do with it, maybe remove it from the backing, it is laced on and add wadding and do some more quilting. The fabric was all dyed by myself well sponged with paint and then salt sprinkled onto it. have just fond the paperwork and it appears the inspiration came from doors and balconies in Malta. The hand quilting was done with coton a broder forgot I had used that seem to think there is a stash of it somewhere so might use it again for hand quilting.
This is the second attempt, not sure what I will use it for, Helen has suggested I could give it to Wheatfields Hospice, they have crochet blankets the same size which work well when the patients are propped up in bed (they need much smaller blankets then) but do not think it will take too kindly to being hot or maybe boil washed, she is going to ask about laundry. It measures 40" square and have quilted it with a walking foot. Now waiting for wadding before I can do the other one, this one I pieced a couple of pieces together that were left overs.

I have also made a baby quilt for a colleague from the hospice whose wife is expecting, he wanted a quilt with animals etc on so came up with this cot quilt it measures 45" x 36". I have done squiggly quilting in the yellow squares (FMQ) and assorted lines on the blocks with the walking foot, sorry quilting does not seem to show on the photo.

I made far more blocks than necessary so made a smaller one out of the left overs which measures 32" x 35"quilted in a similar way to the bigger one, not sure what this will be used for but it will just sit on the spare bed along with other quilts till someone wants it.
Such a worthwhile cause they were getting people to make bags to hold syringe drivers which are given to patients who need continous doses of pain killers to help them manage pain particularly cancer sufferers. Well of course I had to get a pattern and today made my first bag, I am so proud to say I have a daughter who is a pallative care nurse in a hospice so I am now making bags for her patients, she requested I made some suitable for men, well my stash does not have much in the way of manish fabric! but did have this piece of fabric with cars on so have run the bag up and will give it to Helen to take in tomorrow and if they approve will go into mass production as the bags once given to a patient are not reused due to risk of infection etc so they need a constant supply. This could not have come at a better time as waiting for wadding for the 7 large and 4 small quilts waiting to be quilted
all minis apart form carousel rides measure 24" square carousel rides is 27.5" square. No photo of the back of square vortex as I used a very patterned fabric for the backing and the quilting does not show up on it, also if I had thought more about it would have done more quilting but this is the first one I attempted. So good to have them finished at last, now not sure what to do with them.

I started by quilting the 6 mini quilts I had made, will add photos of these in a few days then moved on to the row quilt I did as a BOM with Little Bunny blog last year. This I quilted with the walking foot and as it was in rows was not too bad to manipulate, I used different patterns for each row, maybe I should have done more quilting but quite pleased with how it is, for now it will be on the spare bed along with others waiting to be quilted.
This is my scrap vortex quilt also made last year, I just love scrappy, this I quilted free motion with a sort of squiggle, the stitches are not all the same size but I definitely improved as I went on with it,
My granddaughter Sal is 18 on Sunday and she is off to uni in September, this might brighten up the halls of residence but will be more than happy to bring it home if she turns her nose up at it! I will make a label and take it with me, if Sal decides she would like it I will sew it on
I think I mentioned in a previous blog that I now have my machine in my horn cabinet, I am sure this has helped with the quilting as the machine is flat to the surface making it a bit easier to do.

Once this is done I am on hold as I have used all the wadding, I had a roll of recycled but wold like to get some warm and natural, having priced it on line think I will have to do some saving first! I wonder what anyone else uses and what you recommend, I have a small piece of the warm and bright which is polyester that I will use for a playmat, it feels nice to touch but do not think there is much difference in price, maybe it is good for baby quilts as it will be easy to wash and will dry quicker.
