The child like fabrics I used here I could not resist the other day, maybe it was 6th sense that I would need them for these blocks.
I also did the hexie challenge for march, a shamrock, the 4 leaves have not been attached yet as I am waiting till all blocks are done to decide what background fabric to use, the 4 leaves are not attached to each other either.They will be sewn as you see it now more or less.
My girls say I am quite tight with my pennies, well yesterday I spent £1 on a new hair brush, I have been pondering when I bought my old one, I am sure it was before my divorce in 1986 so it has done well. It was from Avon but when I looked the other day they are no longer available!! I am sure this new one will not last as long. Had a comb too that I bought in 1996 whilst in Australia for my niece`s wedding and unfortunately I lost it last year so that was another £1, how I love the pound shops.
Just noticed that this is my 150th blog had no idea I had done so many, it is about 2 years since I started blogging, pat myself on the back, good girl Margaret!

Love both the blocks, even without feet she's cute. Congrats on your blogging and the new hair brush...I just replace my post divorce brush also, the old one was in a little bit better shape than yours and will now be the dogs hairbrush. He doesn't like it! I found it funny that we both had a divorce brush....and it reminded me of a song..."I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair".
Nice blocks, Margaret, the second one has the beautiful border which fits well the theme. Goodness how many hairbrushes I bought without divorce, leaving them in our different houses.
I love the pippi longstocking blocks. so cute. I am glad you got a new brush. The old one did not look at all serviceable. congrats on 150 blogs. I am approaching 500. Don't know how that happened!

You certainly know how to get your money's worth out of a brush!! I have a wide toothed comb that I have had since high school - you just made me realize that. I use it every single day, and it's still going strong. It must have come from the days when Miami Vice was all the rage because it is aqua and purple..lol!!
Pippi Longstocking had the kind of stockings with suspenders that I, too, had as a child. Boy how unattractive they were! Your Pippi is dressed much smarter, a stylish girl!
I think my combined hairbrush and comb (that can be folded like a jackknife) is from the late 80's and indestructible. However, I don't use it with a dryer. Yours look like it has been given the hot air treatment!

you could add feet to Pippi in the first block. they would look wonderful extended into the border. always love hexies....and the brush...oh my. i have several but don't use them anymore. they would take the curl out of my perm.

Your blocks are both great, but I too like the colourful one best. Those fabrics are just perfect and so colourful.
I have a brush that I think I bought in the early sixties which would make it over 50 years and still good. They dont make things like they used to any more.

I love your hexies - all those greens are terrific. I know you love green! :) I really like the Pippa blocks too; I thought they were both fine. It's always fun to work on a group charity quilt; it's always such a fun surprise to see how they turn out. Thanks for your kind comments about my Dear Jane blocks. Pippi - too cute! I am playing catch up with you. Worked on the green March hexies this evening. And, girl, that hairbrush is too much. What did your hair look like? Frugal is good, but I think this was above and way beyond.
Pippi long stocking blocks put a smile on my face they are great. I love pound shops, and at that price you could treat yourself to one every 10 years hehe.

I looked carefully at the two blocks and can't see anything wrong with the first pippa. Both great blocks! I still miss my Avon round brush! Here they are called dollar stores, and in some things can cost more than a dollar, but they are still fun. Love your hexagons, and already done for March!
150 posts in two years is amazing. Congrats! Love the brush story. I can so relate. I can tend to be frugal too except when it comes to buying crafts supplies.
