completed quilts and other bits

I did not realise how long it is since I posted any of my quilting attempts so now have a few photos to load
This is another small quilt completed using 24 of the  tula blocks which is now on the back of the second couch to hopefully compliment the one on the other couch.  I machine quilted each block individually they all vary as they are all different shapes an then quilted each side of the seams on the sashing.

and I have used some Ikea fabric on the back

The spring sampler I did as a BOM and was not happy with is also completed,  having shown a photo of it to Jennie Rayment she advised me to add turquoise in each sashing block,  not having enough I added the owl fabric and it seems to have pulled it together a bit better, I do still not like the white sashing but can live with it now,  it is on my bed not that it is big enough but  it looks quite nice.

This is the sun the hexie block for august show

and now the september block a cute birdie

Still doing the CQJP challenge and here is september,   3 to go and then will have to decide how to put them together   sorry no, no doubt Helen will want to take control of that as it is for her

My monthly block I do for bee blessed   this month it is a sail boat and have heard that it sailed over the Irish sea and arrived safe and sound

Not sure what happened on a previous blog but when I looked back to see what needed adding to this one I saw the wonky block was not there so here it is now. Can`t recall where I fond it but hope to find it again as I rather like the effect and would like to make some more, maybe a table runner in Xmas fabric would work

I am now busy hand quilting the wrist watch quilt for Helen,  have done 26 butterflies so far will post  photo on my next blog

How much I like this first quilt and I can see that we both think the same: the back doesn´t really need to match, most important is that it looks nice by itself.

It might have been some time since you blogged about your work, but then when you do, you have a lot of progress to show. Great work. I think the BOM quilt is great as it is. If you wanted to do something about the white sashing you could add some turquoise buttons.
The sailboat is such a lovely block.

I think we are our own worse critics. I really like the white sashing on the quilt and would struggle to suggest an alternative colour.

They're all neat, but of course I love the hexies - what a cute bird - looks like a rooster to me. Thanks for linking to Hexie Weekend.

What a full post! Love the tula pink finish, love the one you don't care much for, love the chicken hexagons, and love all the work you did on everything! I'm going to try to get a closer look at your wonderful CQ block. You are finishing the year nicely. This is the first year I haven't completed my goals, but I'm okay with that. Lots of emotion in this year's blocks.

So much eye candy today--great to see your quilts and your cqjp--mine is slowed to a standstill. I may pick it up to finish next year. Lovely creations Margaret. You've travelled quite far on your quilting journey!

Wow, you have been busy! I know you prefer darker sashing but I really like your second quilt (with the little owls you added). Looks great to me. I also like the wonky block (and I'm not one for wonky!).

I really like the sampler quilt and I think the white sashing with the colored posts sets of the blocks very well.

The hexie birdie is cute.

Oh, Margaret! All your projects are very sweet, but that BOM that you were not happy with??? I love it! It's just gorgeous! Nice work on all!

Sarah said...

You're ahead of me by 2 blocks on the hexie BOM - I best make an effort to get at least one cut out this weekend. I want to do an "ombre" look for my sun and we are switching the bird to an apple (which means designing it so maybe I can just take the lazy route and do the bird).

I like your spring sampler quite a bit, Margaret! I like the modern white sashing, AND I love the little birds in the cornerstones. Great job!
