mug mats and assorted projects

We are having a mini heat wave here at the moment,   how I love the sun,  sitting out in it is my idea of bliss.  Fortunately I do not burn   having inherited my father`s Aussie genes,  mind you I would not want to work in this heat.  We have had 2 beautiful days and today seems glorious too,  thunderstorms are predicted for later today.  Helen and I are off to Roundhay Park for lunch and we will sit by the lake afterwards and feed the ducks with defrosted peas,  that is what they say we should use these days and no bread.   Have just spoken to Helen and change of plans,  we will go earlier and feed the ducks in the morning in case we have a storm,  suits me better I can come home and watch Wimbledon providing they do not get the storms, no that will be okay as they will just close the roof.
Not much in the way of finishes for you today spoI am adding some mug mats I made from the left over economy blocks.  I use one as a pad for my mouse for the lap top,  cannot cope with using the pad itself.

I am also working on a cat redwork wallhanging.  It has 8 different cat blocks,  I am doing them with assorted green perle cottons,  here is the first block I have done

Another project on the go is a steps to the altar quilt,  Each block has 49 2.5" squares in so had to cut out 980 in total! I have made 20 blocks but not joined them together yet,   seem to get to this stage and then no further.  Now have 4 in this state!  Not sure how I would manage without the kitchen floor to photo on!

Also cut out waiting to sew into blocks is the row by row quilt with littlebunnyquilts   and of course a lot more of   " I want to do projeccts"  in hand

Love those mug rugs and your stitchery block looks so cute! My goodness that's a lot of 2 1/2 " squares for that quilt top :-) ! Sounds like a few places in the northern hemisphere are experiencing hot weather at the moment...hopefully any storms you have aren't destructive.

Lovely colours for your alter quilt. Cats look like fun we all know your favorite colour. It was cloudy here most of the day yesterday and showers all morning so far.

I love the scrappy look to the Steps to the Altar quilt. So bright and cheerful. I make a load of mug rugs too. Such a quick and easy finish. I think all my friends have at least one that I've made them

Love the green cat embroidery. Heat is okay if it's not too humid. June was the wettest one on record here. Normal rainfall is 4"; we had 13.14"! Looks like a rainy Fourth of July for us this year.

I love the green "All Creatures Great and Small" embroidery. Are the other blocks the rest of the verses? That would be great. :) Just like my favorite James Herriot books. Your steps to the altar quilt is very ambitious! That is lots and lots of cutting. What size are you making?

Take care,

We are having quite the Heat Wave but without any rain. Your mug mats are wonderful. My heavens those 2.5" squares are small to work with. Greenwork stitching for Redwork looks beautiful.

Mug mats ready! A pity to put mugs on - with us they would be spoiled after the first cuppa! I love the altar steps - wonderful colours. So bright and optimistic. And there is a future redwork in green - a funny one - on the plan. You busy lady!

Your Steps quilt is lovely, an idea for my Someday list.
I have an iPad and I have to highlight your blog or post name, then URL comes up in a box, choose copy. You need to have a Chrome app, because the problem is a Google thing. In Chrome, at New tab, touch and your URL appears, so copy it, the blog comes up and the comments work. It's an incompatibility problem. Good luck, hope this works for you.
