I rather like my multi coloured snowflake
Here I have taken a photo of it on top of a largish hexie flower block
The lounge floor is today covered with the remaining 76 blocks from the Tula sampler, have not arranged them in any order, I have 10 rows with 7 blocks on each and 6 extra blocks so think I might make one more so it will be 11 by 7, or maybe I might remake the 16 blocks which I have put together in the batik quilt well maybe not! This way I would have a quilt using all 100 blocks, the more I think about it the more I think I might do it, must check I have enough black fabric first.
quite pleased with this
Now for the slash and stack piece, yesterday I hand quilted it, I drew circles randomly over it and around the edge a few half circles. I used gutermans hand quilting cotton in yellow. Now I have 2 fingers on each hand the worse for wear from being pricked with the needle, I do try and wear a thimble on my right hand but it is not very successful, I feel they need to be longer as they do not stay on too well and I always feel I need to push them further onto my finger but there is not the room to do it. Will need to wash the work when I have added the binding to remove all traces of blood and also the pencil lines. I am planning to use some dark turquoise to bind it with.
Yesterday we had our first snow of the winter, it only lasted for abut 5 minutes but the flakes were pretty big, I thought looking at the sky in the morning that we might get snow but it had not been forcasted.

It does look like a snowflake! You hand quilting is fabulous, wish my hand quilting looked that nice.
Your quilting is coming along a treat, your hand quilting is lovely it gives a nice finish to the quilt. I like all the hexagons they look very neatly stitched.
Your hexes are so great. Looking forward to see more.

Great work on those hexagons. It is a good idea to place them on top of various fabrics to see what looks best.
Wow, I especially like the last piece of work and think this is colourful and really pretty. A turqoise binding would look good but it will make the red come out very much. If you want that, then take turqoise.

I very much like that piece with the black background creating a unity for all the parts.
I do love the hexagon snowflake. You have pieced it so perfectly. Will you be making more of those?
Love your hexie block!
It's all looking good - well done on your hand quilting it looks great!
Love the arrangement of the hexies!
Oh my goodness your quilts are so beautiful and FULL of color. I love the bright colors!
I love the blocks on the black background. they really pop. I also have the same problem with thimbles, except whenever I have one on, my hands automatically want to use another finger, very annoying.
Hello Margaret, The Hexies are so pretty. Your quilt is absolutely stunning. I would be very pleased with it too.. Today we almost have 2 feet of snow and it is -25 degree below zero. I have never seen it so very cold. I would love to be in the UK. Hugs Judy
Fun photos today. That's a lot of blocks on the floor. The unarrangment looks good to me!
Your work is amazing Margaret, and so very industrious. i love everything you do. You made an excellent job of your hand quilting. Sorry about the sore fingers hope they heal quickly
That black is perfect, makes the blocks really stand out. I can't do thimbles either, I end up with fabric plasters on my fingers
I have never hand quilted circles before...it looks like fun! Maybe your thimble is not the right size for you??
LOL, Margaret, I have exactly the same problem with BOMs! I like to know where I am going. :) My new plan is to wait until they are done before I consider starting one.
Good for you for starting to hand quilt! You are making great progress!
Lovely quilts!Hexies are so pretty.Your hand quilting looks perfect.I have problems with thimbles.I think there are some leather patches available which you could use instead of the annoying thimbles,I haven't tried one yet..so don't know about the cons, sorry.
Love your hexie snowflakes! And here in America almost everyone is sick of snow so it's nice to hear someone not complaining about it for a change!
Great work, Margaret. The hand quilting is terrific. I have a similar problem with thimbles. I find I always use a finger with no thimble on it - no matter where I put the thimble!
I just love all the projects you are working on! Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the inspiration! XO
Congratulations Margaret on your Tula Pink quilt top an amazing amount of work! You have done a great job! Loving those hexies too!
A wonderful post Margaret! Your hexagon snowflake looks super and they all look so perfectly done. Your Tula sampler blocks are all looking so colourful spread out like that. Looks terrific and I especially like your slash and stack piece. Hope your fingers heal quickly.
Margaret Dear your hexie snowflake is wonderful. You may have solved the hexie dilemma for so many who are addicted to sewing hexies. Your tula sampler is huge and amazing. I love your hand sewn circles on the slash and stack piece. Your work is Creative Stitching Bliss...
Wow you are really getting into this quilting, Margaret. Your hexies are wonderful and I think it would be wise to stick to a neutral background if you are making a scrappy one. Will tie it all together. The circle quilting was worth the effort, very nice.
