7 flimsies

I really must stop making quilts until these flimsies are complete!!!    I have ordered a roll of eco friendly wadding/batting which should arrive tomorrow or tuesday then there is no real excuse apart form having the confidence to quilt them.

This is the aiming for accuracy quilt from craftsy 2013,  I bought the pattern after I saw it on another blog (Red Delicious Life) so did not do it as a BOM but done this year.  I really like this one, something about assorted sized blocks really appeals to me.

This is the quag done on the create and craft channel with the one and only Jennie Rayment.  I have cheated here and done a courthouse steps block instead of the celtic one as that was beyond me.  I should be made into a quilt that folds into a bag if I can work out how to do it, otherwise it will just be a quilt.

sorry put this on first and do not sure how to remove it, this is the kitchen floor prior to joining the block together

This is my wrist watch quilt,   pattern from the Sassy quilter on the  bear creek studio site.  Thinking hand quilted butterflies would look quite good in the large grey rectangles as they definitely need something and I know I could not machine quilt them,   will consider  bit longer, it is for Helen who I am doing the crazy wall hanging for too,   also pink and grey.

here is the spring sampler quilt from Cora`s quilts done over a few weeks,   to be honest I am not in love with this,  even bought bump instead of wadding as it is so much cheaper, a mistake I feel as it has made it so very heavy,  the girl I bought it from says she uses it in all her quilts but she ties hers instead of quilting,  maybe I could do that but feel the border is shouting out for a pattern of some sort and I am not a fan of tying quilts,  not sure I will be able to quilt it but feel it should be finished,   will be the last on the list to do.

Tula Pink blocks,  here I have used 49 to make into a quilt for my older daughter Catherine.  We spent a while crawling over the carpet till she found the way she liked the blocks and yesterday I was at the machine at 8am and had it done by 10,  not bad going for me.

This is the last of the Tula blocks,  another 24 block quilt to go over the back of my second couch,  the first one is already on a couch completed.  When I look at all these blocks I feel I should pat myself on my back as these are one of the first quilting challenges I did,   fingers crossed the quilting goes well too.

On the 19th we had our Yorkshire modern quilters group meeting and were shown how to do a vomit quilt, Liz one of our members shared the pattern and instructions with us and she had her completed by the end of the evening   ( think it is a Katy Jones pattern   I`m a ginger monkey girl)    7 blocks with 49 2.5" squares in each. I had the squares already cut and finished making it on monday.  there are 2 different blocks,    if they were all just random squares it would have been a bit of a muddle,  I like this effect and maybe in years to come when I have sufficient squares will make a bed sized one   or maybe not.

Hope you have enjoyed my flimsies but don`t hold your breath till they appear again completed.

Just arrived in Germany and saw your 7 flimsy ones. My mouth wide open. How could you do so many quilts? (even if they are not finished). I like most the first one - and then the last one.

I like the first one best too, but they are all remarkable and harmonious. I had to look up 'tied' quilt!! Congratulations - really great work.

Oh my! You have a lot of finishes to do. All of them are great quilts and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how your accuracy quilt turned out. Makes me wish I would have done mine with the black sashing instead.

A lot of flimsies means a lot of finishes soon. And if you feel like creating another quilt top, you should go for it! You have to create when inspiration strikes.

You're making me feel lazy, I have a quilt top ready for batting and backing but my hook keeps calling me instead. I will get around to finishing it one day, in the meantime I'll just sit back and admire yours. lol

Well, dang, Margaret, you are a piecing maniac. And as they say, practice makes perfect. Your skills have really improved. That's the plus side of having a blog - you can go back and see what you did before and how things have gotten better. I remember when you whined about poor results. Can't do that anymore. Good job.

I am in the same boat you are these days. Need to get some things actually quilted. My pocketbook is not going to extend to having the longarmer do them all. Have to put that new machine to use!

Wow Margaret! Your quilts are beautiful and such variety, it was like going to a quilt show! I especailly like the first one! I agree with you, I do not care for tied quilts.

Wow, you've been very busy there!
I go through a phase of making flimsies (my favourite part) and then get myself setup to baste and quilt them one after another. I do as many as I can before the temptation of a new quilt leads me astray! It does help having a roll of batting as I can cut a few together which saves time and batting!

You should definitely pat yourself on the back, Margaret! What amazing progress you've made. :D

I like that first one too. Have you seen the new Moda Building Blocks pattern? I have a feeling you'll like it.

These are all lovely--especially the red delicious quilt. But what daunting task you have to get them all quilted!

Margaret these quilts are stunning! I love them all. The vomit quilt has quite a name and with closer study I can see the bit of a pattern that it has.
The one you made for your daughter has nice movement and colors.
All so different and all beautiful!

I gather that flimsies are quilt tops? what a prolific worker you are, and yes, it's the finishing stages that are sort of dull in a lot of art forms. So much more exciting to start a new project..

Wow, Margaret your fingers have been very busy,. They are all great looking. Now for the very hard part finishing them. Smile

What a busy bee you are. A pat on the back from me well done. You have really come on a long way.

I did enjoy your parade of tops. With a name like that last one, I don't think I'll ever be making the quilt. Names are important to me, and that one does NOT appeal at all. =) Love how the sun is shining through that first one. Very pretty stained glass effect.

That first quilt looks like a stained glass window, just beautiful. Congratulations on finishing so many tops.

Glorious Margaret! very very well done! I share your joy!!

Wow , these are wonderful! The first one is my favorite of all the other beauties. The colors and the patterns seem to emit a wonderful glow akin to stained glass . Loved the second one too . The soothing pastels have a language of their own and have a somewhat optical illusion look.

Oh My! Margaret, these are simply beautiful - I love all of these. I'm especially drawn to your Tula Pink samplers, how very fun it must have been to try all the different blocks! I love the vomit one too, haha! I always say there are two kinds of done. There's the DONE when it's pieced together, then there's the other DONE when it's quilted and bound. I still have about 20 quilts in the Done-1 pile. They're all still waiting for the quilter (me) to get to them, LOL!

Great job Margaret! Quite a range of quilt styles and color! I like the top quilt, as you said there's something about varying the size of blocks that makes it more interesting! I like the last one too, love the scrappiness of it! cheers, cw
