inverted feather stitch tast 2013 50

I am on the ball today and have done the latest tast stitch.  I thought it might work well as a change from 4 sided stitch in a hardanger piece so decided to make a small sample.  If I am honest I did not enjoy doing the stitch and I do not think it works so will not use it again for hardanger. I am interested to see what other people do with it as I am struggling to think of when I could use it again

The stitch could look great on a border, that was my first thought too. I'm not sure now.

I already saw this at Flickr. It looks very nice, but I know what you mean about this stitch. I used it for the first time yesterday on a seam connecting 2 blocks for my EEC class, not such a good idea with all those layers of fabric! I had to stab stitch it. I hope I have something to show with this stitch this weekend, I already prepared a sampler to play with this stitch.

I am not a fan of cross stitch but will have a go love your hardanger.

In my opinion the stitch works well with your lovely Hardanger! Yesterday night I started with this stitch, I tried different yarns and until now it looks best with a thick yarn. It will not be my favourite stitch too I think.

I think the Inverted Feather looks quite different from the look of Hardanger, which is always straight, neat and tidy, kind of Satin stitch, especially when a Hardanger expert like you have made it. My first thought was also that the Inverted Feather would be good for edging; combined with what I wonder? I also think it is a stitch good for crazy quilting.

This sample piece is stunning. I know nothing of stitch types however this openwork frame is gorgeous and would be nice on a sachet. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...

I think it looks good because of the density and great colour choice.

I like it Margaret, the colour is perfect and it adds a different texture to the hardanger.

I am surprized that you didn't enjoy the stitch, I haven't tried it myself but I do think it looks good with your hardanger!

I haven't tried this one, but your beautiful stitching certainly makes me want to try!

Your stitchery is beautiful as is your stitching. Love the hardanger. Hugs Judy

I'm OK with you, this stitch will be difficult to use. But your little hardanger sample is so nice !

I think you have to mud wrestle it to make it do anything geometric. Better for things that are a bit more fuzzy or bendy.

Ignore me. I was thinking about last week's stitch. I didn't relate to this stitch at all. It probably can be made to look nice on a seam but just occasionally I feel a stitch is just trying to be too clever.
